Lowest Price Bodycraft Fitness Xpress Pro Home Gym Exercise Machine Style: No Leg Press Station (Standard)
It arrived as promised from Amazon and is everything I thought it would be.
Something to note: It was packed by the manufacturer extremely well and I'm glad it was for when it arrived (via Amazon's shipper) the boxes were really beat up. I was afraid that there would be damage or parts missing for the boxes looked like they'd been through Hell. Fortunately, everything was fine. Again, thanks to BodyCraft. They make a great product and they take the care to pack it well enough to withstand a real beating in shipping. Nothing inside was missing or damaged.Get more detail about Bodycraft Fitness Xpress Pro Home Gym Exercise Machine Style: No Leg Press Station (Standard).

Low Price BodyCraft K2 Home Gym
I researched long & hard before committing to the K2. I don't regret this purchase at all. It has a fluidity to every movement that its competitors could not seem to match. It also is very sturdy and feels like it will last forever. The layout makes it very easy to use. I added a (non-Bodycraft) curling bench to the middle "V", and with this addition the K2 covers every possible exercise. The weight is far more than I could ever lift. For most exercises I don't exceed the first third of the stack. I don't really see a downside to this machine. Well, maybe one: the seated row is not ideal, as you have to sit on the floor and put your feet against the metal plates. But this is only a very minor gripe, and is well worth the intelligent design and quality of the remainder of the machine. By the way, I have had my K2 for about 6 years...I bought it in the first few months it was released, and it has held up very well, including being moved into a new house. It still feels brand new. Thanks Bodycraft!Get more detail about BodyCraft K2 Home Gym.

Cheapest Bodycraft Fitness Galena Home Gym Exercise Machine Size: Include Protective Weight Stack Shroud, Style Add Leg Press Station

Delivery was a little slow but as it was a holiday week, not really unexpected. Gym was relatively easy to setup after overcoming the daunting number of parts. Definitely a 2-person job. Directions could use a little updating but nothing that can't be reasoned out. I'm a little concerned about the Leg Press pulley setup as it acts choppy but I haven't taken a good look at it yet to see if there is anything I can do to fix it. Otherwise it is a great product!Get more detail about Bodycraft Fitness Galena Home Gym Exercise Machine Size: Include Protective Weight Stack Shroud, Style Add Leg Press Station.
Cheap Body Solid EXM4000S Triple Stack Home Gym
The EXM4000s gym is an excellent product. The structure is extremely solid and the motions are fluid. The service from Body Solid is outstanding and I do not make this statement lightly. All of my questions were timely answered and they were proactive in my interactions with Amazon. Assembly is required for this product so be ready to dedicate some time and patience and have a friend available to help. There are instructions but not directions. By that I mean that there are diagrams and inventory lists but no step by step instructions. One word of advice, do not put on any pulleys until you are ready to install the cables. You will enjoy this product.Get more detail about Body Solid EXM4000S Triple Stack Home Gym.

Buy Bowflex Conquest Home Gym [Discontinued]
My Wife and I, both in our 60s, have been using a resistance band machine for many years and found it to be basically adequate. The manufacturer no longer supports that machine and we eventually ran out of bands requiring us to replace it. We're sorry now that we didn't replace it with a BowFlex sooner. The Conquest is perfect for our purposes of generally toning and conditioning. It is easily adjustable, providing a wide range of motion and resistance. The book and video provided with the machine are extremely helpful and the set-up instructions accurate and easy to follow. We assembled and set up the machine in a matter of a few minutes. We can recommend this machine without reservation.

I purchased the Bowflex for my husband for a gift. We spent 31/2 hours putting it together. (not to hard if you have assistance). The exercises are easy and effective. Order Body Solid G8I Iso Flex Home Gym
When I was shopping for a weight machine I could find no reviews on the G8I. Now that I've used one for a while I thought I should provide one.
I was first attracted to the G8I because of its size. At 6'6" many machines are too small for me. This one isn't. It feels right for me. Assembly is straightforward and pretty intuitive. I use it for circuit training; 5 sets of 15 reps- one set of each of four pulling exercises straight through without rest periods alternating with 10 minutes treadmill first day; five sets of four pushing exercises punctuated with treadmill second day followed by rest days. Four sessions per week. The machine works very well for this. adjustments are made very quickly and easily. The machine does not interfere with the momentum of the session. The actions are smooth and silent. The machine handles almost everything I need very well including deadlifts. The one exception is squats (I don't have space for the optional leg press), which I do with free weights. I don't mind. I still like the feel of free weights.
Overall I'm impressed with the machine. Oddly enough, I find myself actually fond of it.
Update: I've been using the machine for seven weeks now. No problems. Nice machine.Get more detail about Body Solid G8I Iso Flex Home Gym.

Where To Buy Body Solid Dual Cable Column
This unit is very heavy gauge metal and extremely durable. It is comparable to professional Gym equipment. Assembly was a bit tedious, as the directions were a bit lacking. Just diagrams to go by. Assembly took 2 people about 4 hours but was well worth it. This is a excellent cable column for the price.Get more detail about Body Solid Dual Cable Column.
Marcy 100-Pound Single Stack Home Gym
In general, it is a quite good gym. Took me about 3 hours to assemble with my 3-year-old son (so, it may take less time for you). Assembly is quite straight-forward.
The gym is relatively well-made, even though some of the welds could be done better. Seems like it will last for several years. Not sure about the padding, though.
There are few weaknesses. First of all, I didn't expect that 100-lb stack is so little. I am using all of the weight for many exercises and there is no way to add more weight. So, if you are not female, look for higher-weight gyms or the ones that can be expanded. Impex will not ship any more weight to you even if it is possible to add them. They just say "NO".
Another problem is with the lower cable. Firstly, if you do exercises in which you do not sit on the machine, it will lean back and may flip if you don't have a wall behind it. So, you need to step on the small flaps on the front part of the lower-front part of the frame. This, however, creates another problem. Due to design, the cable, if pulled vertically or at a low angle (and most exercises require just that) the cable will be constantly rubbing against the leg developer and I am afraid that in addition to the black marks on the leg developer the rubber on the cable will be gone soon.
After that, the metal cable will be rubbing against the leg developer.
A minor problem is that the weights are not numbered. Therefore, you need to count when you set your desired weight or just use trial-and-error approach. In addition, setting the weight is done from the back, not the side, which is quite inconvenient if it stands next to the wall (you would need about 1 ft distance from the wall).
Overall, I would buy at least the one with the heavier weight stack if I could.Get more detail about Marcy 100-Pound Single Stack Home Gym.

Bowflex Motivator 2 Home Gym [Discontinued] Top Quality
I was looking for something I could put in my home that would allow me to do some resistance training. After much debating, I opted to purchase this machine. I haven't been disappointed!
Lets start with the Price. I purchased this for $599 and opted for the free shipping. I feel that this product is a bargain at that price. I've looked into many other pieces of equipement that cost much more and did much less.
Assemble wasn't too bad. There are quite a few pieces in the box that need to be assembled. It looks a little overwhelming when you first open the box, however the assembly instruction manual is very thorough and easy to understand. If you have any experience putting things together (ie. Ready-to-assemble furniture or toys) this will be a snap.
The product is very sturdy. It is a little large, so make sure you have the space to put it. If you are looking to lift heavy amounts of weight, the only drawback to this model is it can't be upgraded with more weight. For me, the 210 lbs. was enough, but for others, it may not be.
Overall I am very satisfied with this purchase.Get more detail about Bowflex Motivator 2 Home Gym [Discontinued].
Body-Solid G9S Selectorized Home Gym This instant
The Body Solid G9S is an exceptionally well-made home gym but it is only as good as the person who assembles it for you, if you cannot do so yourself. Not knowing any better, I bought the gym online and upon the recommendation of the seller hired an out-of-state company with local technicians to assemble it. I highly recommend purchasing this item in a brick-and-mortar store that can assemble it properly and provide you with a warranty for the assembly. The problem that I'm having is that the pin does not insert easily and the unit emits a clanking sound when I use one of the weight stacks. The other weight stack works well. I called a local merchant upon the advice of Body Solid and they wanted $450 to inspect and lubricate the machine. Granted that this also covered any necessary repairs, with the exception of parts, and warranted the work for a year, but that is about what I paid to have the darn thing assembled. So I decided to use it as is and wait until the problem worsened (if it did) to the point I could no longer use it and then have it repaired. I am, otherwise, enjoying this product immensely and highly recommend it. Well worth the price. Get more detail about Body-Solid G9S Selectorized Home Gym.

Total Gym 14000 Home Gym Immediately
The total gym is a terrific supplement to weight and cardio training.
It is espesially good if you play sports such as baseball, tennis, racquetball, etc.
This machine really strenghtens and stretches all muscles around the shoulders.
The TG1400 is better made and cheaper than the infomercial total gym although it is still
pretty pricey. In fact this is the model Chuck Norris endorses on his web site.
The price is why I do not give 5 stars. Use it for 10-20 minutes at the start of your day
then go run a mile or two afterward and you will feel the benefits.
It does take up a lot of space and is a pain to put it away.
I leave it set up at all times. Get more detail about Total Gym 14000 Home Gym.
Marcy Diamond Elite MD1559 Home Gym with 150-Pound Weight Stack Best Quality
We purchased this at a fitness/ sports store near our home during the holiday discounts- got a very good deal.
We set it up in our basement in just about 2 hours. Not complicated at all. The instructions weren't perfect, but we managed! We also had to move it later to add foam mats underneath, and it wasn't too much of a bear.
After a couple of weeks of use, there were only a few minor complaints. Like the previous reviewer, i had to make adjustments to the accessory chains etc to fit my ideal range of motion. I'm only 5'1", so some of the motions are a little long/high for me. It is unfortunate that none of the seat parts are adjustable. If we were looking to spend more, this would have been a great feature, given our range in height (he's 6'1"!). Given that, the leg extensions are still proper for me. The biggest drag is that the slider bars (where the weights slide up and down) are not thoroughly lubricated. So when i'm being a light weight (< 20 lbs), the resistance is gone on retraction. We are going to try lubing the bars with some silicone to help this. We might need to add some to the pulley wires to slip it all up a bit.
The set came with locking C- shaped "carabiners", which are a pain for switching accessories. We picked up a couple of regular ones to replace them. We also purchased adapter plates for our weight stack (2.5 and 5 lbs plates) in order to extend the flexibility.
It was a great addition to our home gym. We had to purchase a couple extras to make it the most convenient and maximize its use. However, for what we paid for it, we are totally fine with that!Get more detail about Marcy Diamond Elite MD1559 Home Gym with 150-Pound Weight Stack.
Body Solid G10B Bi-Angular Home Gym Get it now!
This home gym was even more than I expected in quality. Having not seen the product in person, I relied on descriptions of the type of construction and compared to similar price points. I saved several hundred dollars over local venues AND got free shipping (which was around $300-500 locally). It arrived within a few days, which is extremely fast. The assembly is a bit time-consuming with a lot of small parts...follow the diagrams! I would recommend this home gym to anyone and the experience with Amazon was great! Powerline P1X Single Stack Home Gym Buy Now
Sent to my home with 18 wheel semi?!? Couldn't get down my 600' driveway so I had to haul from the road to my house. Various errors in the assembly instructions. Text did not match pictures multiple times. Not too difficult to figure out their errors however and put together in about 2-3 hours. Upper, main cable that attaches to the weights is very taught, may be by design, but I have to push down on the top weight to move the pin to a different weight selection. May stretch a little once I work with it. Not much time to work with it yet, but appears worth the money in initial value. I am considering purchasing the leg press in future.Get more detail about Powerline P1X Single Stack Home Gym.

Body-Solid G4I Iso-Flex Home Gym Decide Now
The home gym is a winner - good assembly documentation, well-constructed, easy to use (although only been using it for a week). One of the large frame items was manufactured poorly and Body Solid replaced it within one week without any questions.
Be aware of the vendor - Big Fitness. After purchasing, I realized that the shipping company was freight shipping, not one of the recognized shippers such as UPS or FEDEX. There are all kinds of restrictions on shipping (e.g., drop the shipment at the curb, unload yourself, etc.). And the shipping company called twice to reschedule and the system was delivered 1 week later than originally scheduled.
Big Fitness wasn't particularly helpful about shipping issues and the customer service person was rude. Big Fitness also offered no help on the poorly manufactured part, washing their hands of everything after the sale had been made.Get more detail about Body-Solid G4I Iso-Flex Home Gym.

Powerline PHG1000X Single Stack Home Gym Right now
Ditto from the other comments about the directions. There are no directions...period. There is only a blow up illustration, which seems to have been written by a non-english speaker. Even the illustrations (which are ink drawn and not jpg. photos) lack any significant detail.
Some small parts are not even listed (which bolt to use). Some others are listed by size (in metric) on the blow up, and not by item title (you know...insert bolt "a" into part "z"). I can't imagine why a U.S. company would allow this to happen. Make and insert your own directions guys!
Also, of the illustrated blow ups, of which there were four pages, some of the items were out of order, and had to be redone (pulleys). I ordered a weight stack extra. There were no directions on how to adapt the basic machine. I asked Powerline, and the only response I got was to remove the weight stack risers. Ooops. Except just doing that meant that I can't put the selector all the way to the bottom of the weight stack now. That explanation was not obviously enough. I suspect that the black rubber donuts (spelled "dounts" in the parts index) have to be removed...which now will mean partial disassembly. I'll just say no to that and use a couple extra five pound plates on the free weight bar for the machine.
You can go to Poweline's site to see the 'directions' yourself. Take a look before buying this product!Get more detail about Powerline PHG1000X Single Stack Home Gym.
Lowest Price Stamina Viper Leverage System Home Gym
As an occasional user of exercise equipment, I used to be content with the Weider brand.A couple of years ago,I decided to get more serious about exercising.I got a Weider home gym for about $ 300.00. That was a mistake! Cheap plastic pulleys and skinny steel bolts can't hold up to regular use and I'm sure Weider Knows it!
So I saw the Stamina Viper and now I knew what to look for.The Viper has heavy duty Pulleys, fat bolts and overall solid construction. For bench presses,it uses a leverage resistance, which doubles the weight on the stack(for the viper, you need"olympic"size weight plates). The unit has a relatively small footprint, but you need space all around to properly use it.Assembly is probably about six hours average, with basic tools. I'm looking forward to years of service from this sturdy machineGet more detail about Stamina Viper Leverage System Home Gym.
Low Price Total Gym 3000
OK, I bought a used total gym 3000 for 100.00 a year ago. I have used it on a regular basis ever since. The unit has gotten a little noiser, and is not nearly as easy to put away as they would have you believe. However, it *does* work you out well. It is easy to use, and effective. Maybe the body rail is better (it would be nice to have something wall mounted!) BUT - this is a review of the total gym 3000. I have lost weight, gained muscle and never hurt myself. Does everything it says it will do. Certainly not a ripoff IF you use it. Get more detail about Total Gym 3000.

Save Body Solid G3S Home Gym
Just purchased the G3S for $849. Took about 4 hours to assemble, but overall the instructions were clear and no big problems. The gym is sturdy and provides multiple different options to get a gym-like workout. The pulleys are smooth and quiet. I do mainly upper body workouts, so I did not get the lower body attachments. Definitely would recommend in this price range.Get more detail about Body Solid G3S Home Gym.
Discount Total Trainer DLX-2
I purchase the DLX-2 from Amazon. It arrived even quicker than stated. It was delivered by FedEx and luckily for me the Total Trainer comes in a double box. There was a hole in the side of the box about the size of a fist that went thru both boxes... Luckily nothing fragile was near that area. The Total Trainer is 99 percent set up and ready to go. I intend to use it strictly for upper body and won't be using any of the leg attachments. The cables are actually ropes and I think that they are better than any hard stiff cables. The platform slides well on the rails and pretty quiet also. There is a slight clicking noise in only some of the exercises where the rollers roll over the split in the rails. I'm not too crazy about the handles. I think they look and feel cheap. The overall quality looks fair to good on this model. I noticed some sharp edges on some of the holes. Welds appear so/so. Also, I would like the base to be a little wider for more stability. I have had a couple of Total Gyms in the past (intermediate priced models) and they had a better finished quality than this model. But as I remember, they cost more also. So I guess the bottom line is ... It appears to be what I would expect for $450. It is also my understanding that the Total Trainer organization is very helpful and stand behind their products. Get more detail about Total Trainer DLX-2.

Cheap Bowflex Revolution Home Gym
This review may sound a little negative, but . .well, I'll explain. I do use this machine pretty regularly and enjoy working out on it. But it ain't cheap, and it ain't perfect, either, especially if you're a complete novice to weightlifting.
Over the years, I've worked out in gyms and I've worked out at home both with older Bowflex power-rod models and with this one. I'm about the furthest thing there is from a walking mile of muscle, but I try to at least maintain a basic fitness level. Overall, I prefer lifting in a gym with a friend as a spotter, for a lot of reasons -- working out with a friend helps educate you about proper lifting technique, the buddy system works as motivator, and many of the most efficient excercises for muscle gain -- deadlifts, military press, squats -- require either free weights or a dedicated Smith machine, and can't be performed on this machine.
But if you don't have any friends to lift with you and there aren't any gyms nearby, or if (like me) you simply don't have the time to make it to the gym regularly, you can get a decent workout with a bowflex system. I've had this machine for about three years now, and I use it fairly consistently (usually in six month on/ six month off cycles, as I watch my belly fat expand and retract). If you do choose to get a home gym system, this one is a good choice. It does let you fit a lot of exercises into a small space, and it's great for working out at home safely without a spotter. You can do a lot of basic excercises on it -- incline and decline bench; leg presses, extensions, and curls; preacher curl, resisted crunches; chest and shoulder flies; it doubles effectively as a weighted rowing machine. Overall, you can hit pretty much any individual muscle group in the body with this thing.
As to durability and construction, this machine has also stood up reasonably well over time, despite several moves and long periods of daily use; the "power rods" on my old bowflex lost a fair bit of their elasticity over time, but the the resistance plates on this machine are (as far as I can tell) just as tough now as they were when I purchased the thing. You will probably need at least two people to put the thing together (unless you're fit enough already to make it redundant). You'll have to do some partial disassembly when moving it through a doorway, too -- the horizontal rod on which the plates fit sticks out too much to fit through a standard doorway -- but all that takes is ten minutes or so with the included allen wrenches (make sure to keep all the tools it ships with in a bag somewhere, so you can disassemble it later if you need to move). It does creak a little on some exercises, but overall the construction has held up pretty well (so far). [Edit: shortly after I wrote this review, i.e., after using the machine on and off for about three years, one of the plastic parts snapped while I was changing out plates. I contacted the company and was shipped a replacement part within the week, no charge or question].
The main problem with this machine is that it's hard to hit groups of muscles at once, and that's the best way to build overall strength. You can't do squats or deadlifts on it or a number of other compound excercises -- they've got an isolation excercise for every muscle, but it's harder to do whole-body workouts on them. (You can *try* to mimic deadlift and press on it, but you end up straining at odd angles that beg for injury). I've had to buy a chin-up bar to do pullups, and I generally have to do dips between my kitchen counters. As soon as I get room, I'll probably need to buy a smith machine, too. The difficulty of doing many compound excercises on this machine leads to a second problem that shows up after you've been using this for a few months. If you don't plan your workout carefully, you can overdevelop your strength in one area and underdevelop another, which can create a risk of injury -- to explain, I've strained my arms once or twice on this machine because I'd let my bench press get so far out in front of my chest fly that it became difficult to pull the strap handles in to position for the press. So you have to pay attention and plan your excercises carefully, for even muscular development. That's something you have to do with any workout plan, of course, and in some ways is a problem general to any machine-based excercise program, but you'll want to pay especial attention to it with the Bowflex machines.
The chief advantage of this "revolution' model over the more standard "power rod" bowflex model is that the "power rod" basic model has an additional flaw that's kinda hard to explain -- the tension on the rod increases slowly as you do each excercise, so if you pick, say, the two "fifty pound" rods, you're only getting 100 pounds of resistance at the peak of the curve, and a lot less at the start and finish. The Revolution solves that by using, basically, plastic plates filled with rubber bands, that you twist as you do the motion, providing constant resistance. Of the two, the "revolution" style machine is a lot closer to providing a "weight-like" workout, and the power rod model is a lot closer to total crap (but also a lot cheaper).
Finally, the "resistance plates" have an additional shortcoming: the smallest increment is five pounds per side. A lot of weight training programs (Starting Strength, etc.) try to have you increase resistance in five-pound increments from session to session -- so you need 2.5-lb weights to do that (2.5 on each side), and you can't do that with this machine. Again, you can compensate for it by just working out longer with lighter weights before making the ten-pound jump, but again, it's something you have to compensate for, and it could end up slowing down your training a bit relative to the rate of gain you'd have with free weights in a gym.
I'd advise going to the gym with a partner first -- a knowledgeable friend or a personal trainer -- before buying this machine. It's the best way to learn excercises, learn how to structure your own workout plan, etc. If you don't know proper form, there's a fair chance all you'll do when you get the home gym machine is flail around for a while and try unsuccessfully to ape the guy in the videos, because you won't know what you're doing. Because this system lets you do so many different excercises, it's really easy to do silly or unbalanced workout programs on it, and even easier to do the right excercises in the wrong way (and doing things with improper form can get you injured, which generally derails newbie lifters). You can get this knowledge on your own if you're willing to put in the research time, but it's generally more effective to learn with a coach (just like it's better to learn a martial art from an instructor than from a DVD).
That said, the main thing is just working out consistently, every other day. If having a home gym system in your house (or spending over a grand on an excercise machine) means you'll work out more consistently, it might be worth getting. If you're not self-motivated to work out every day, I'd find a partner and go to the gym with him or her every other day instead.
If, on the other hand, despite all the caveats above, you like working out at home instead of in a gym (I do), you can get a decent workout on this machine. There are a lot of benefits to working out at home, too -- you don't have to compete for the machines, you can work out at any time at all, you can work out without having to find a lifting partner for safety, you don't have to waste time travelling to and from the gym, and so forth.
All in all -- if you're a novice to weightlifting, the best thing you can do is get a friend and go to the gym regularly together. If that isn't an option for whatever reason, or if you aren't a novice and/or know you would just prefer to work out at home, period; and if you're strongly self-motivated to work out regularly; then you can get a very good workout on this machine. You'll only get out what you put in, but if you have the dedication to consistently push yourself, you can get decent results with this thing. Get more detail about Bowflex Revolution Home Gym.

Order Body Solid EXM3000LPS Double Stack Home Gym

I bought this for my office. One of the weights was broken in shipping at no fault of the company I ordered from. They still replaced it for free and didn't even charge me to ship it. It is my belief that you can order from this company and not worry about anything. They took care of me with no hassles!!!!Get more detail about Body Solid EXM3000LPS Double Stack Home Gym.
Where To Buy BodyCraft Galena Pro Home Gym
Delivery was a little slow but as it was a holiday week, not really unexpected. Gym was relatively easy to setup after overcoming the daunting number of parts. Definitely a 2-person job. Directions could use a little updating but nothing that can't be reasoned out. I'm a little concerned about the Leg Press pulley setup as it acts choppy but I haven't taken a good look at it yet to see if there is anything I can do to fix it. Otherwise it is a great product!Get more detail about BodyCraft Galena Pro Home Gym.

Shop For BodyCraft Xpress Pro Home Gym
It arrived as promised from Amazon and is everything I thought it would be.
Something to note: It was packed by the manufacturer extremely well and I'm glad it was for when it arrived (via Amazon's shipper) the boxes were really beat up. I was afraid that there would be damage or parts missing for the boxes looked like they'd been through Hell. Fortunately, everything was fine. Again, thanks to BodyCraft. They make a great product and they take the care to pack it well enough to withstand a real beating in shipping. Total Trainer Power Pro Black
I'm really glad to be writing this review, as I fully believe the Total Trainer is the best home exercise machine on the market, bar none!
I've worked out on plenty of machine and free weight systems, but the glide rail is without question the very best way to get the exercise you need with the minimum of hassle or danger.
With machines and free weights, you're working to move plates or dumbbells against gravity. Most people agree that free weights produce the best results, but just as many people will warn of their dangers. The problem is one of control, or rather, the lack of it in a vulnerable position. More than one person has been injured by a sudden muscle failure during a squat thrust or a bench press. That's why spotters are essential if you're going to use these kinds of weights.
What about the rest of us who don't want the bother and fuss with all that? Are we left to mess with machines with cables and plates?
I saw the first Chuck Norris infomercial many years ago, and thought it was the worst gimmick. C'mon, Chuck. How cool is that? Its too simple. Too basic. Too boring.
Well, fast forward to the present, and I recently saw another Chuck and Cindy infomercial, and y'know what? The point they made is very valid. They're still hawking this thing because they're still using it. Yep. The glide board trainer is something you can stay with for a long time.
So I made the decision to get one. I researched and reviewed, and Googled the heck out of these things, to find out the real scoop. (Like you're doing now, right?) Which unit is the one to get? Well, any glide board trainer is the one to get. You just need to determine which model.
I really like the Bayou Fitness Power Pro Total Trainer, (say that three times quickly.) Why? Its everything the high dollar Total Gym unit has, with even more accessories. This unit is ROCK SOLID, and is actually a light industrial version of the basic model. (Which means it can last for years in a gym with full usage.) That's great for the longevity issue, but how does it work.
Well, I'll tell you. This review is more of a plug for the glide board trainers than necessarily this particular model. Get ANY unit rather than none at all, because they flat out work!
I'm a big guy, (6'2", 375lb,) and I needed a unit large enough and strong enough to handle my size. This Power Pro unit suits that nicely, as it accommodates users up to 6'7", 500lb. That's an enormous difference between the basic glide board units, which typically handle a up to a 285lb, 6' user. The monorail system is not going anywhere, and there are no flexes or instabilities as are sometimes reported on the lesser models.
The attachments are nice, (bicep bar, bicep isolator, ab crunch strap, etc,) and they are really excellent and super well made. But they're really not so necessary. The basic handles attached to the pulleys are all anyone really needs. Switching the pulleys to the glide board itself is a great feature of this unit, and makes for not only excellent variations, but also a ton more resistance.
The concept of these trainers is so simple, you really need to stop and think about it. Manual, simple resistance exercises, (push ups, pull ups, situps, squats, etc.) have been around for centuries, for good reason. They work, and you can do them anywhere. But, what happens if you can't do a full chin up, push up, etc. What do you do then?
Herein is the excellence of the glide board. You are just modifying the total amount of weight you're pulling or pushing. Can you do a full chin up right now? How about 10? Most people can't do even one; and the heavier you are, the more impossible it becomes. Go home and cry? Not with this unit! Just set the angle of the glide board to a certain position, and only a percentage of your weight comes into play. The exercise is the same. The same chin up, push up, etc., but with a limited about of your weight to move. The concept is SUPER, and it really works.
Another aspect of this system I'm really liking is the range of motion you can get on almost every exercise, along with great control and safety. Example: I have bad knees. My right is worse than my left, and my left is reconstructed. I simply can't do a regular squat because there is a vulnerability about half way into the squat. I have to hold onto some if I do one bare. But with the Total Trainer, not only is the amount of weight greatly reduced, I'm in an inclined position, which affords great control and comfort. Better yet, I can grab the pulley handles and completely regulate the descent with my arms. I can literally "spot" myself with this system.
I've done many chest butterflies on a stack weight system, and believe me, they are BORING. The range of motion usually punks out towards the rear of the motion, as the plates reach their end of travel. But with the glide board system, your arms are fully engaged as far back as you can go, but you're in control because you can put your feet down on the floor quickly and end the exercise if you need to. You'll never rupture a tendon with this system. The range and control are superior to anything I've ever used before.
How do you do lat pull downs at the gym? Use a stack machine, right? Grab the big, wide bar, sit on some stool, and yank the thing down til it goes behind your head, right? Where does the exercise end at the top? When the stack reaches the bottom, right? If you want fully engaged motion, you have to dip down quite a bit, (at least I do,) and then its not very comfortable.
Well, with the Total Trainer, you set the glide board angle, insert the pullup bar at the top of the unit, move the board up and lie down on it, and then grab the bar and pull yourself up. You're actually doing a modified pull up, (which is what the lat machine is supposed to be duplicating, BTW.) When you let yourself down, you go all the way down until you're hanging there with a full stretch. That's fantastic! No other machine I've ever used gives this much range. You'll really feel the full stretch with this system.
I can do the best butterflies I've ever done with the Total Trainer. The range is total, and the completion of the exercise is not compromised by the limits of the unit, (as you'll often find with butterfly machines.) Also, its very easy to stop at the top of the exercise, and rest a bit, (which is always very satisfying.) I like a 10-12 rep set like anyone, but these days, depending on the resistance level, a 4 rep set is kicking. Two of those, with a minute rest between is excellent training, believe me. Because of this, its easy to work up to more reps and more sets before increasing the resistance.
The leg curl exercise is outstanding. I normally hate leg curls because the hamstring is a very difficult to isolate muscle. Also, most leg curl machines have this really annoying leg pad that rides up your calf through the range of the exercise. But just clip yourself into the foot pedals, set a fairly low resistance, lie fully down, and curl those legs. The motion is very smooth and linear, with no grabs or grasps at the end. The movement is very complete, and you just know you've done an excellent exercise.
Put the pull up bar at the bottom on the unit, and lie down upside down for shoulder push ups. You'll love the motion, resistance, and total feeling.
Want to do more abdominal work? (Who doesn't?) Enjoy full situps? (Most don't.) Well, here's a tip you won't find in the manual. Instead of doing situps with your feet in the foot pedals and the board at an incline, simply turn around and put your feet on the floor, and use the incline to moderate your situp resistance. You'll love it! And you'll do a lot more of them than lying down flat on your back. Start with the glide board in a very steep angle for the least resistance in this position. As your stomach muscles get stronger, move the angle down, until you don't need the modification any longer, and can turn back around and use the foot pedals with the board inclined upwards.
The ab crunch strap is the best I've seen. Marvelous for isolating the abs.
A few quibbles:
You must have the manual to work with this unit. I had an awful time trying switch the pulleys and fold the unit up without the manual. (I bought my unit second hand.) Bayou Fitness seems to be fine company, but for some reason, they don't think its important to have this unit's manual online in a PDF. They offer the dual rail manual online, but the monorail has enough differences to warrant its own manual online. Several well responded but unnecessary emails were sent to Bayou Fitness about this.
The unit is a tank. 122lbs dead weight, and it isn't going anywhere. It folds up for storage and moving, and can be unfolded and in use within seconds. (Try doing that with a weight stack system.) Please, don't let people fool you. You've got an entire gym's worth of equipment in this excellent system, that's you'd otherwise spend many thousands of dollars trying to replicate on your own. Plus, this system is much, much, much better in almost every respect. (You can get plenty ripped with just this unit, believe me. Don't listen to "experts." Watch what you eat, and exercise with this unit daily, and you'll soon have much to show for it.)
That value of this system is phenomenal. New, from the company, is less than $600, which is a steal considering the construction and accessories. (I got mine second hand off Craigslist in like-new condition for just $200!) Still, $1500 would not be excessive for this excellent unit, and the Total Gym will sell you their equivalent, (with less accessories,) for just that much. The monorail is best for larger, heavier people like me, but Bayou sells a DXL II model for half that which is just as good, if you ask me.
The important choice is not so much which unit to buy, but THAT you buy; because without this excellent exercise machine in your home, you're missing out on exercise that's essential, controlled, safe, and really fun. You will enjoy using this machine for a long time. (Just ask Chuck.)Get more detail about Total Trainer Power Pro Black.
Bowflex Ultimate 2 Home Gym (Refurbished) Review
As a previous reviewer stated, Yes, this comes in about 6 different boxes, (I also got more boxes because I ordered more attachments). Yes, it does take about 8-18 hours of assembly (varies depending on how good you are at putting things together). When you first open the boxes and see all of the parts the task does look daunting, but the Bowflex instruction manual does a fair job of explaining how to assemble it. I am OK at assembling things, such as Ikea and Target furniture. Although, this was definitely a step up in difficulty, it isn't impossible. It does take some patience and attention to detail. Took me 3 days working 4hrs a day to complete the machine, total 12hrs. I did feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that I finished and did it alone.
I used it for a month and a half straight and after 4 weeks there were obvious results. Unfortunately I fell off the workout wagon and began to use it less and less because I just got busy with life. But if you use it it does work!
One negative, I guess, is that it is BIG, about L8'xW4'xH7' so you must have room for it. Even folded up it takes up about L5'xW4xH7'(for the exercises that you get the size makes sense)I had it in our bedroom because it was the biggest room in our old apt, besides the living room. Now we have a garage and I keep it there. It is a much better spot for it. Now that I have my own workout room, I plan on getting back on the wagon and working out with it regularly. It is a great machine that is fun to use. (For me, it is even more fun to workout with a partner).
Keep in mind that it is different from using free weights. Where free weights tend to get easier when you get to the top of your contraction, the Bowflex power rods on the other hand start off easier and get tougher towards the top of your contraction. It takes some getting used to but as you use it you will get used to it.
There are so many exercises that you can have a different workout every week. It is Well constructed, very durable, and most importantly it is effective. I payed about $3,500 for it with the ab crunch attachment and I still feel that it was money well spent. I will make my money back on this the longer I have it as compared to a gym membership for 5yrs.
So if you have the space are self motivated and want a home gym, this is the product for you. Save yourself the trouble and get the Ultimate 2 Accessory rack as well. At first I Thought I wouldn't need one but I am probably gonna get one in the next few months because the accessories are everywhere and with it they will be a lot more organized and easier to access when needed as well as store when not in use.Get more detail about Bowflex Ultimate 2 Home Gym (Refurbished).

Powerline BSG10X Home Gym, Short Assembly, 160lb Weight Stack Top Quality
I purchased this product mostly because of the easy assembly promise, and was not disappointed. I am not particularly handy, and was able to assemble the unit, by myself, in less than an hour. I have not owned a home gym before, but am absolutely pleased with how sturdy it seems to be, and the variety of exercises you can perform on it. It strikes me as perfectly appropriate for all but the most hardcore exercise nuts!Get more detail about Powerline BSG10X Home Gym, Short Assembly, 160lb Weight Stack.
FreeForm Hideaway Home Gym This instant
I spent some time looking around on the internet for a compact home gym. We've all seen the advertisements for all kinds of stuff in this field including Bowflex, etc. Well, I came across this gym on Amazon here and decided for the price (Yay Amazon! You were the best deal anywhere and free second day shipping to boot!) it was a worthy gamble.
The video that the inventor of the product produced, is only a few minutes, but was interesting. The guy, Jim Deola is a former bodybuilder and a mechanical engineer. I like cool inventions and this seemed pretty cool. Watch the video here on Amazon or the official website and decide for yourself.
About the FreeForm: This gym fold very compact as the inventor states. Its great for someone who lives in a small apartment or just doesn't have much room for gym stuff. Its very easy to setup and take back down. You basically only have 2 pins to deal with. Moving from one exercise to the next is very easy. The resistance bands do as they advertise. You'll find you had muscles you never knew you had. The resistance bands supposedly will last for 10 years under normal household use. The gym itself is fairly heavy, and I recommend you get help getting it in your home initially. Once you have the wheels attached to the front, it is easy to move around(the wheel assembly doesn't come attached, you have to do that when you get it out of the box. Its easy, with just two bolts and the supplied allen wrench). The gym can slide under beds out of the way, but only if you have a full size or bigger bed. Its to big for twin size beds. I prop mine against the wall, and it seems to do fine. All the weight of the machine in is in the center and towards the bottom, so it won't slide away from the wall on the wheels there. The whole thing feels solid enough. There are some annoying things about it though. The resistance bands are made of rubber, and therefore have a strong odor, that hopefully will wear off. Some people may not be bother by such odors, but I am. Also the vinyl seat covers have a bit of odor as well. I use FaBreeze on them which seemed to help out a bit. You also will have to lubricate the contact points between the resistance bands and where they connect to prevent squeaking. Another thing I noticed was that the bars aren't even in their motion. When facing the forward on the seat, the right bar makes a bit of a rough sound when moving it, because the lubrication isn't quite enough, and so it is harder to move than the left one, which feels looser and lubricated properly, so you may have to get some grease, remove the arms (which is easy; the whole thing can be taken apart very easily), if you have that problem. Otherwise, its a great machine for the price.
You can do a lot of upper body exercises. Lower body exercises are more limited though. If you watch the product video, you will know what I am talking about. That might be a draw back. Its to bad they couldn't incorporate a leg extension on the machine somehow, while retaining the compactness of it. Oh well. You have to make sacrifices to get something this compact. The alternative is a big, clunky thing like a Bowflex, which cost 2 to 3 times as much. Another thing you won't get is training videos or anything else, like you do with Bowflex or probably some of the other home gyms out there. You will pretty much have to figure out your own routine and what works for you. For some reason, the manufacturer states there are "advanced workout videos available online" at their website, but I haven't found anything. The website is very plain, and really doesn't have much information on it. They really need to revamp it, and put out those videos they claim to have made (correct me if I am wrong about the workout videos).
What you get in the box: The machine with parts to finish assembly, a large chart with pictures and descriptions of some of the exercises you can do, a warranty paper you fill out and mail in or do online (you get a 5 year warranty) and assembly instructions. That's it. No instructional videos or tips or anything else. But if you don't care about any of that, then this for you. Its easy to use, safe and will at the very least give you a good cardio workout, and with time, build up your strength.
I hope this review was helpful. I like this product and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a compact gym. I doubt there is anything more compact, or at the very least that I am aware of. :)Get more detail about FreeForm Hideaway Home Gym.
Bowflex Revolution FT Home Gym Immediately
I just received my Bowflex Revolution FT and it is a good product. Well made and easy to assemble. Footprint in reasonably small so it can be used in smaller areas. It is very quiet during use and quick to change weights and positions. My only concern is that this equipment is made in China. Body Max Multi-Functional Trainer Best Quality
I bought this directly from someone else, before Amazon dropped the price, but I would definitely recommend this item. It'll take you maybe 3 hours to assemble it. Besides the fact that I did have to get a part replaced that was not manufactured correctly (the rod that goes into the weight plates), it seems to be a good quality piece of equipment. The Free Motion cable cross machine is likely the best machine you can get, but for a home gym, it's not worth the additional $1500 or so. It ships in 6 separate boxes.Get more detail about Body Max Multi-Functional Trainer.

Total Trainer DLX Black Buy Now
I am a 30 year old female that works out regularly at home. I did not want to buy a weight machine, but wanted to change my routine from just using light/medium dumbbells. I bought the DLX model, and I love it. I thoroughly enjoy working out, and have been using the program cards with minor tweaks as I go along. I am glad I purchased from Bayou, and not from Total Gym. The quality is great. One drawback, as noted by other reviewers - for the leg press and calf raise I needed to add weights right away. Like all exercise equipment, don't buy it if you won't regulary use it. Start by buying exercise videos or jogging, and if you faithfully exercise for several months, then buy permanant equipment. Total Gym 1700 Club Decide Now
About me:
I'm 28, male, in good health. I got this machine a few weeks ago because I haven't been to the gym since high school. My first thoughts were to get a rowing machine because my lower back is really tight and curvy especially since my gut seems to be protruding at an alarming pace. I thought to myself, well instead of just paying a couple hundred bucks for a rowing machine, why don't I get a rowing machine that can let me get a total body work? After three hours of searching online I found this, and bought the Total Gym "1800 club" the same day.
Things I like so far:
-Easy to assemble (I know nothing about machines or working out)
-Easy to use (very simple design)
-Variety of exercises (You can be innovative with this machine)
Things this cannot do:
-Give you a serious workout (I don't recommend this for serious athletes. There is very little resistance even at the highest level)
-Not very sturdy (My model's pulley system is very rudimentary. Sometimes the back piece also comes off the rail. The higher models fix these things but they cost thousands instead of hundreds of dollars. Also there is a weight limit for each model. Bigger people should pay careful attention to the specifics of each model)
-Doesn't really seem to do any exercise particular well, mostly because there are no resistance levels except your own body mass, and the gravity resistance. More of an aerobic workout than strength training.
-Price. Although it is comparable to other exercise machines out there, it still seems like a total ripoff to pay 500 bucks for a piece of sliding metal attached to a pulley. Hey, maybe I'm just cheap. The lowest and higher models such as the XL seems to be a better deal.
Recommendations before buying:
-Pay close attention to the differences of each model type. Also go to their website because some models are not offered retail.
-Watch videos of them being used. There are some on youtube at least.
-Consider what you want from your workouts. Strength, aerobic, cardio?
Conclusion:
Good variety of workouts but definitely no "total gym". If you are looking for a light aerobic workout maybe 5-10 minutes a day, and can't be bothered to go to a the gym, then this could work out very well for you. I give it 4/5 stars. Thanks little guy, I feel my lower back loosening up already. If you want something more serious from your workouts, move on or only consider the high end models.

Low Price Body-Solid EXM2500S Home Gym
I just finished setting this machine up at my house. It is amazingly quiet and smooth!! The pulley system seems to be very good despite the number on the machine. Assembly took me, and a friend who sells commercial construction supplies, the better part of an afternoon but it works well. Don't tighten the pulleys until the cables are threaded!!! The cable ends BARELY fit through the pulleys when it is not tight. However, the assembly is completely worth the effort. (BTW...assembly is not as complicated as it sounds. It just takes a long time. There are dozens of nuts and bolts that have to be used throughout the machine. Make sure to get all of the parts organized before you start and be sure to pay attention to the differences in size and width of the various bolts. Other than that, it works pretty well.)
I would definitely recommend this machine for anyone who wants a full club quality machine without the high price tag and large room requirements.Get more detail about Body-Solid EXM2500S Home Gym.
